1 x Permanent 

2 x Fixed term Contracts for 12 months.

To provide services in Obstetrics and Gynaecology across the 2 sites of Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw District General Hospital in accordance with evidence based practice. Also, to participate in clinical audit, teaching of trainees and maintenance of high standards of medical practice.

 

Main duties of the job

  • To maintain the highest clinical standards
  • To provide labour ward on-call cover on the registrars rota as second on-call
  • To provide cover for wide variety of antenatal and Gynaecology clinics, theatres.
  • To work with colleagues, both medical and allied health professionals to improve and advance the service.
  • To share with colleagues the responsibility for the management of the Department.
  • To share with colleagues the responsibility for teaching and training of trainees, junior medical staff, nursing staff, primary care colleagues and medical students.
  • To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD)

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities set out in a job plan will include, as appropriate;

  • clinical duties including any on-call work; this will be as per the second on-call rota with other training and Specialty Doctors;
  • Supporting Professional Activities to attend Friday pm meeting .The Doctor will be allocated an Educational supervisor.  One additional ATSM/ special interest session;
  • Any additional NHS Responsibilities;
  • Any agreed external duties.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MBchB/MBBS or equivalent
  • Completion of ST3 level competency in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
  • Part 1 MRCOG
  • Applicants must have full GMC registration and continue to hold a Licence to Practise

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Must be able to demonstrate clinical experience and competence in Specialty expected of a doctor at ST3 Level
  • Previous experience at Registrar level in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at ST3 level in UK
  • Ability and willingness to learn from colleagues, senior and other sources.

Training

Essential criteria
  • Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of medical students, junior colleagues and non-medical staff.

Audit & Research

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of Audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects
