Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic Clinical Typist / Administrator to join the Team in  Stroke / TIA at DRI. 

This post is a permanent  post and 24 hours per week supporting the Stroke / TIA clinical administration team. 

The post holder will assist the Medical Secretary in providing an effective and efficient support service to clinical teams, maintaining robust systems and processes, which are in place for administrative management of the patient pathway.  The post holder will provide an efficient audio typing service to ensure that clinical correspondence and all associated actions have been actioned to ensure smooth progress throughout the patient pathway in line with clinical requests.

Main duties of the job

You will work flexibly as part of the team producing clinical correspondence using Medisec digital transcription software, from outpatient and inpatient attendances ensuring clinical line of priority and chronological order.

A good all-round knowledge of medical terminology is preferred alongside previous experience of working in a clerical administrative role. You will be required to promptly file correspondence and investigation results into case notes in line with the trust policy, ensure accuracy and recording of all clinical events as part of the patient pathway, and provide general administrative support where required across the whole team.

Knowledge and Experience

Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade C or above or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience
  • OCR/RSA/NVQ Level II or completion of a Business and Administrative Level II or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL or equivalent qualifcation
