Junior Sister / Charge Nurse - St Leger Ward

We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a flexible approach who is forward thinking, committed and keen to drive forward high standards of nursing care, invest in the development of the team, improving the patient experience and be able to facilitate care that is safe and delivered with care and compassion.

The post has continuing responsibilities for:
- Co-ordinating the activities of the ward/departmental team to ensure the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised holistic patient care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, to the standards set out in Essence of Care.
- Encouraging an environment of empowerment through coaching, teaching and facilitating.
- Managing the ward/department in the absence of the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse
- Managing the bed/unit bleep and co-ordinating flow alongside the site team and surgical flow matron
- Ensuring support for all staff on the orthopaedic unit on a night

- Proven experience at Band 5 in an orthopaedic setting
- Evidence of having developed skills within the Scope of Professional Practice relevant to the area of responsibility
- Evidence of ward/dept management under supervision of the person with 24 hour continuing responsibility

- Evidence of research based practice
Qualifications

- RGN with current registration
- Demonstrate professional post-registration development

- 1st professional degree

- Demonstrate positive verbal and written communication skills with multidisciplinary team / client / relatives
- Demonstrate a caring manner with an understanding disposition. Be interested and committed to caring for people from any type of cultural and environmental background or illness

- Demonstrate the ability to participate in the implementation of change

- Demonstrate knowledge of dealing with conflict supporting staff through mechanisms such as clinical supervision
- Provide evidence of supervisor/implementation of teaching programmes for student nurses, e.g. preceptorship education, mentorship
- Evidence of involvement in service development
