Clinical Typist Administrator - Trauma and Orthopaedics

Job overview

You will work flexibly as part of a team producing clinical correspondence using Medisec digital transcription software, from outpatient and inpatient attendances. To meet the changing priorities within the department, you will also be required to display tact and diplomacy where appropriate and have excellent communication skills as well as demonstrating a flexible approach to working within a team environment. In addition these roles will support other activities identified by the Team Leader to ensure the highest standard of service delivery within the speciality team.

You will have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Medical Terminology as well as audio typing experience. You will also have RSA II Typing (or equivalent qualification/experience) and GCSE English Language at minimum Grade C (or equivalent).

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Clinical Typist & Administrator for our Trauma and Orthopaedics speciality in the Surgical Division.

Clerical experience in a healthcare setting would be desirable. Experience with Medisec, PAS and Excel, would also be an advantage. 

Due to the nature of this role a high degree of confidentiality and discretion is expected.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade C or above or equivalent or equivalent experience
  • OCR/RSA level 2 or equivalent in keyboard and 2 of 3 typing or equivalent experience
  • Business Administration Level 2 Apprenticeship or equivalent demonstrable experience / qualifications eg NVQ Level 2 Admin and Clerical

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience working in a clerical/administrative role
  • Maintenance of computerised files
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word
Desirable criteria
  • Previous hospital or NHS experience working in a clerical/administrative role
  • Knowledge of Trust Polices, including Hospital to Treatment Patient Access Policy
