Job overview

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen within the physical health service within the Doncaster Care Group based at Tickhill Road Hospital, Doncaster. This bespoke position is a joint post between the dietetic and speech and language therapy services.

The successful candidate will support the Dietetic Services to deliver oral and enteral nutrition support, to patients in a range of health and social care settings. They will also support the Speech and Language Therapy Service supporting patients with dysphagia (swallowing problems) and communication needs.

You will be a valuable part of friendly, positive and proactive integrated teams, and will be well supported by experienced team members. 

Main duties of the job

  • Assist in the assessment and treatment of patients under the guidance of a dietitian/speech and language therapist
  • To manage own caseload and to provide a high standard of treatment and advice to meet the needs of patients within agreed guidelines and protocols.
  • Provide advice and support to patients and carers throughout the patient pathway. 
  • Supports patients and carers in coming to terms with their condition, providing ongoing support, encouraging them to promote health and wellbeing.
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues in health, social care, local authority and other agencies to meet the needs of patients.
  • Deliver training sessions to patients, care home staff and community nursing staff
  •  To participate in student training and the induction programmes for new dietitians and speech and language therapists, students and assistant staff as required

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent experience
  • Educated to minimum GCSE level or equivalent grade A-C, including English and Maths
