ADHD Assistant Practitioner

NHS AfC: Band 5

Job overview

These are important new roles working within the Neurodiversity Directorate in RDASH as part of a significant expansion of the ADHD services. The teams are working to an exciting and ambitious target of significantly reducing waiting times for people accessing the service and these roles will play a key part in that. Working across all the ADHD teams the ADHD Assistant Practitioners will support access to the services through a clear and robust referral and triage process. As the services continue to be developed to deliver interventions in line with NICE guidance the ADHD Assistant Practitioners will also be involved in the delivery of specific interventions with patients under the support and guidance of other clinical staff and in line with their own training.

Main duties of the job

The ADHD Assistant Practitioners will work as integral members of the multidisciplinary ADHD Service under the supervision of the ADHD Clinical Specialists/Practitioners. They will be responsible for triaging referrals and assessing/screening patients referred to the service as well as carrying an agreed case load providing specialist therapeutic interventions for adults with ADHD. The ADHD Assistant Practitioners will deliver workshops to groups of patients and professionals and provide consultation and advice to professionals in the community.

They will be responsible for managing and prioritising own workload, and reviewing this on a regular basis with the ADHD Clinical Nurse Specialist/Practitioner. They will develop therapeutic relationships with patients whilst providing clinical interventions with support and supervision from the multi-disciplinary team.
