The role involves joining an expanding team of qualified and in-training psychological professionals to work with older people with complex psychological difficulties and/or cognitive impairments.  Based at one of the older adult CMHT teams, but working across all localities and the Young Onset Dementia Service. We are looking for an experienced, resilient and reflective clinical psychologist who can work with enthusiasm and versatility.

We are especially looking for someone who has experience of, and is keen to support, the ongoing development of therapeutic pathways for complex emotional needs including structured clinical management and DBT. There are opportunities to attend and chair (where appropriate) reflective practice sessions with the older people’s (OP) psychology team, to receive own clinical supervision and to attend neuro supervision with the wider Trust OP Psychology team.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • Accountable for own professional practice in the delivery of specialist care to clients with complex psychological or mental health conditions and cognitive impairments across (Doncaster) older people’s community mental health teams. 
  • To provide psychological and / or neuropsychological assessment of clients (within older people CMHTs and YODs team) with highly complex conditions based on the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of data from a variety of sources.
  • To provide (where appropriate) clinical supervision and training to colleagues within the designated psychology service (e.g., Assistant Psychologist) and to other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • To be compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers and families.
  • (Where appropriate) to undertake formal research / service evaluations and, where suitably trained, to act as field supervisor for doctorate clinical psychology trainees. 
  • To be pro-active in continual service improvement.
  • To promote, at all times, a positive image of people with mental health difficulties, of the older adult and psychology services and the wider Trust.

Qualifications, Training and Experience

  • HCPC Registration as a Practitioner Psychologist (upon qualification)
  • Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees / junior psychological professionals (Essential at Band 8a)
  • Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Experience with, or a strong interest in, older adult needs and presentations, including administering and interpreting neuropsychological assessments
Meini prawf dymunol
  • Post-graduate training in neuropsychology
  • Post doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological therapeutic practice such as structured clinical management and / or DBT.
