Job overview

A vacancy has arisen in the Cardio-Respiratory Department at Mexbprpugh Montagu Hospital for a receptionist/administrative assistant. 

You should have effective communication skills with the ability to multi-task and work as part of a team. You will be enthusiastic, professional, compassionate and competent with a willingness to contribute ideas to provide the very best patient-centred care. A flexible approach to work, including working across the Trust sites is an essential part of the post.

Previous experience of working within a hospital environment and reception duties with knowledge of medical terminology would be an advantage although not essential as full training will be given.

A minimum of three GCSEs or equivalent at grade 4 or above (grade C or above) are essential including English and Mathematics (or equivalent). You should also have demonstrable working knowledge of core Microsoft packages including Word.

Main duties of the job

To provide reception and administrative support for the Cardio Respiratory Department. The post holder will work in a busy office environment, and will be well organised in order to plan, prioritise and manage high volumes of work to meet tight deadlines. Excellent communication, computer and customer-facing skills are also essential along with practiced word and excel skills, combined with a strong attention to detail.

A flexible approach to work, including covering planned leave and working across the Trust sites when required.

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade 4 or above (grade C or above) or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience

  • European Computer Driving License, or equivalent qualification
  • OCR/RSA/NVQ Level II or completion of a Business and Administrative Level II Apprenticeship or demonstrable equivalent qualification and experience in keyboard skills and typing
