Job overview

Fixed Term: 2 Years | 37.5 hrs per week | Hybrid

You will lead the transformation of Autism and ADHD care pathways across Sheffield, working with families, clinical, educational, and professional leaders. This initiative is part of the wider Special Educational Needs agenda and aims to develop a needs-based, graduated model of care. You will help create an innovative, co-produced model of care and support that positively impacts children, young people, and families in Sheffield.

You will collaborate with teams from the NHS, local government, education, and the voluntary sector, developing a city-wide business case with clear outcomes. As a confident communicator, you will navigate these sectors to deliver results and contribute to the city’s evolving SEND strategy.

Hosted by Sheffield Children's NHS Trust and funded by cross-city partners, this is a unique opportunity to work at both a strategic and delivery level across multiple sectors.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Strategy and Partnerships Director, your responsibilities will include:

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Masters/Higher Degree or equivalent level of experience
  • Project Management qualification (PRINCE2 or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
  • Leadership / management qualifications

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of developing and leading the delivery of complex projects in a large and complex organisation
  • Evidence of building effective working relationships across health and care sector, working with partner organisations and other stakeholders
  • Experience of communicating complex and contentious issues with colleagues at all levels
  • Experience of working autonomously within an unpredictable environment
  • Track record of working across multiple organisations to deliver change
  • Have an understanding of both Health and Local Authority governance arrangements, the ability to navigate all sectors – voluntary sector, primary care, health, local authority, education
Desirable criteria
  • Specific qualifications in service redesign/ improvement/ project management (ie Prince 2, Managing Successful Programmes, Lean etc)
  • Experience in cross sector working in health and care

Knowledge & skills

Essential criteria
  • Understanding and experience of the SEND, health, local government and education landscape across Sheffield/ SY Yorkshire
  • Understanding of the NHS, education, primary care, local government and voluntary sector
  • Experience of different approaches to transformation (ie project and programme management, quality improvement, large scale change etc)
  • Experience of delivering against competing priorities and deadlines while also directing the work of teams/individuals
  • Highly skilled in negotiating, persuading and influencing
  • Ability to resolve conflict and negotiate with both clinical and non-clinical stakeholders
  • Able to devise solutions to complex issues and then plan and deliver through to resolution
  • Ability to lead and manage complex programmes of work and utilise information to effectively support service improvement, including analysing data and producing meaningful reports
  • Ability to draw upon and engage with other experts, for example IT, Estates, Communication leads
  • Ability to work effectively to tight timescales and to develop short, mid and long-term plans that may involve major changes to services
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to effect change in a complex and rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to adapt working to changing programme requirements
