Job overview

 

 AHPs have been central to the implementation and embedding of developmentally sensitive care into neonatal practice in many neonatal units and champion the need to view neonatal care that looks forward to improving longer term outcomes for babies and their families (Recommendations of the Neonatal Critical Care review 2019).

The successful post-holder(s) will work with their colleagues across the Neonatal Network to provide leadership and independent advice to the ODN and its membership, enabling AHP engagement in the function of the network.

 To work as a member of a discrete Neonatal Network Allied Health Professional (AHP) Team that forms part of the Neonatal Operational Delivery Network.

Main duties of the job

 To facilitate, in line with the recommendations of the National Neonatal Critical Care Review (NCCR) and the NHS Long Term Plan (2019), the delivery of a service to all neonatal units within the network that supports equitable access to and provision of, highly complex, discipline specific, AHP knowledge and skills to new born preterm and term infants and their families. 

To work closely with the Network Director, Professional Leads and Network board to agree a range of priorities and key deliverables that will be embedded within the Network Action Plan. 

To develop and implement matrix working practices with all Network stakeholder groups including the full multidisciplinary team within all provider Trusts, LMNS, support groups and Network Task and finish groups in order to achieve agreed project goals. 

To work collaboratively with all other Network AHPs to share the strategic and managerial responsibilities.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • HCPC registered AHP
  • Evidence of extensive Neonatal CPD in line with professional body neonatal competencies and maintenance of a Personal, Professional Profile
  • Post Reg Advanced Paediatric/ Neonatal Training
Desirable criteria
  • Educational qualification, e.g. Cert Ed/PgDip etc

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of significant post registration neonatal experience
  • Significant experience of acute neonatal clinical care at Band 7 or above
  • Evidence of up to date skills and is clinically competent in current role
Desirable criteria
  • Proven experience of leading and implementing service developments, including developing AHP business cases & recruitment, & large scale change management

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs of the service
  • Ability to work unsupervised/ independently
