Paediatric Radiographer

NHS AFC: Band 6

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our dedicated paediatric Radiology Department.

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a high quality, responsive diagnostic service to children in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and the surrounding areas.

You must have excellent communication and organisation skills, commitment to CPD and a growing knowledge of Radiation Protection legislation and health and safety requirements to ensure patients receive the best possible quality care. We have many opportunities for CPD, including research, audits and specialist training and we are committed to supporting and encouraging our staff to promote quality within our department.

Our X-ray service provision is currently under review to develop a pathway based on performance and development to enhance progression of Band 5 radiographers towards Band 6 paediatric speciality under the Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF).

Main duties of the job

You will be joining our friendly, flexible and welcoming paediatric department that encompasses 3 general x-ray rooms, DEXA, EOS scanner, CT and Spect CT scanners, theatre and mobile imaging. The x-ray department supports a range of specialities including neurosurgery, oncology, abdominal, vascular, forensic and musculo-skeletal work.

There is also a requirement after an initial training period to participate in the provision of an on-call / shift based radiographic service on a rotational basis.

Inclusive Recruitment & Selection

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and accurate data capture is an important part of that to ensure we are supportive and representative. Our aim is to ensure that all applicants can see themselves in the available categories on our application form, but we recognise that some of our data capture fields are not inclusive. We have flagged this with our system provider to ask for change.

We offer encouragement and active support to applicants with additional needs, including those from ethnic minorities, with disabilities and members of the LGBTQ+ community. If you wish to adjust any aspect of the recruitment process or wish to find out more about our recruitment & selection processes, please get in touch with our Recruitment Manager: [email protected]

We are continually reviewing our recruitment & selection process to support the long-term aim of Sheffield Children’s being a champion of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion. If you have any ideas for improvement, please get in touch with Catherine Gilbert at [email protected]
