Clinical Psychologist

NHS AfC: Band 7

About us

At Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust we provide a range of mental health, learning disability, substance misuse, primary care and other specialist services designed around the needs of people in our city.

We have a dedicated and skilful team of people caring in Sheffield, which you could become a part of.

Our values are at the heart of everything we do. These are: working together for our service users, respect and kindness, everyone counts, commitment to quality, improving lives.

Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to trauma-informed care in a community mental health setting, currently undergoing a process of transformation, in which the expectations of the work will be broad and varied. You will be joining a friendly multidisciplinary team in which there are great prospects for developing a good range of skills in a supportive and dynamic environment. The psychological therapies team works in an integrated way with all members of the wider team. Our multidisciplinary team aims to promote an optimum level of recovery, independence and social inclusion for each individual.

We would be happy to consider applications from trainee Clinical Psychologists who will be qualified and have the necessary professional registration (as outlined in the Person Specification) by October 2024.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and compassionate Clinical Psychologist  to work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.

You should be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm and willingness to work proactively in both multi-disciplinary teams and within a multi-agency context. This role provides excellent opportunities for a newly qualified clinical psychologist in developing skills in both direct and indirect team working, within a supportive team of experienced psychological therapists.

The job will involve working alongside experienced MDT colleagues to offer one-to-one evidence-based psychological interventions to service users and their families, contributing to and delivering group work. The role also includes joint and indirect work with colleagues (team formulation, staff training, support and consultation around psychological issues); and appropriate audit, service development, evaluation and research activities as required.

The post will suit a candidate with experience of work with adults with complex presentations, such as psychosis, bipolar disorder, complex trauma and personality difficulties. The psychological therapies team includes both clinical psychologists and CBT psychotherapists who offer a range of interventions including CAT, CBT, EMDR, ACT, family work, DBT-informed work, and CFT.

Working for our organisation

We are passionate about providing the very best care to the people we support, and we're looking for amazing people who share this passion to join us.

What is it that makes our Trust such a special place to work? Well, it's all about the people. Our staff, service users, carers and families all come from such diverse backgrounds and all have expertise and stories to share.

It’s important that you feel supported in your role, that the people who you work with are as passionate as you are and that your health and wellbeing is taken care of

If you're interested in developing your career, you'll have access to a range of training and education opportunities, including apprenticeships, work experience and placements, as well as the chance to get involved in research.

We are all very proud of the difference we make to people's lives each and every day and if that's something that you'd like to be part of we'd love to have you with us.
