The IT Operations Team, part of the Digital directorate, seeks a dedicated individual to provide efficient and effective support for user endpoint technologies and security for the Trust and its partners.

This role requires working across all levels of the Trust and engaging with teams both within and outside the Digital directorate. The individual must be capable of multitasking and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously. This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in working with endpoint security technologies and taking their first step into the world of Cyber Security.

  • Work effectively as part of an IT Operations team.    
  • Provide advanced technical support for user endpoint hardware and software.
  • Resolve complex technical issues and service requests.
  • Communicate solutions effectively to users.
  • Coordinate with system managers and external providers for maintenance and issue resolution.
  • Proactively prevent problems using alert systems.
  • Maintain documentation, including user guides and inventories.
  • Role will be based citywide.

The post holder will:

Provide Technical Support:

  • Provide second and third-line technical support for user endpoint hardware and software.
  • Address incidents and service requests from the IT Service Desk or users directly.
  • Interpret and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Communicate problems and solutions effectively to users.
  • Analyse user problems to identify potential solutions.
  • Maintain progress in Digital reporting systems.
  • Coordinate system maintenance with managers and departments.
  • Resolve complex issues beyond the IT Service Desk's capability.
  • Perform diagnostic tests to identify fault sources.
  • Liaise with external support providers when necessary.
  • Offer proactive support to prevent problems based on alert systems.

Be Responsible for Installation and Maintenance:

  • Install standard and non-standard hardware and software, coordinating with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with IT support teams to resolve endpoint infrastructure issues.
  • Advise users on maximizing IT investments.
  • Assist in managing the Trust's Software and Asset inventory systems.
  • Maintain the Trust’s Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution.
  • Plan future developments to improve endpoint support.
  • Contribute to endpoint infrastructure security.
  • Develop and optimize software deployment.
  • Maintain security compliance for all endpoint devices.
  • Manage and monitor endpoint security systems.
  • Ensure endpoint reporting to security and audit systems.
  • Investigate and resolve endpoint security alerts.
  • Monitor endpoints for compliance with Windows security updates and third-party software.

Partake in Evaluation and Recommendations:

  • Evaluate and recommend new endpoint hardware and software.
  • Stay updated on current IT developments and technologies.
  • Maintain department documentation, including user guides and inventory.
  • Develop installation and fault diagnosis procedures.
  • Provide endpoint statistics for governance groups.

Provide Mentoring and Support:

  • Mentor and advise Digital teams on technical issues.
  • Support the IT Operation Team Lead, Head of Service Delivery & Infrastructure, or Chief Digital Information Officer as needed.

Qualifications & Training

  • Degree or Equivalent Qualification, or equivalent level of experience supporting an enterprise IT environment.

  • ITIL Foundation Qualification.
  • SCCM trained (Official Microsoft Course) via approved training provider).

Knowledge & Skills

  • Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 & 11 operating systems.
  • Ability to deliver high quality IT support to users and staff of all technical abilities.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, making decisions without direct reference to your line manager.

  • Minimum 1 year administering elements of Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Intune.
  • Knowledge of endpoint security products and benchmarking.
  • • Knowledge and awareness of the NHS DSPT (Data Security and Protection Toolkit), GDPR and Cyber Essentials Plus.

Experience

  • Significant demonstrable experience providing high quality second-line IT support in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience of managing relationships between users, suppliers, and staff at all levels of the organisation.

  • Experience working within NHS specific IT support
  • Experience of providing mentorship and coaching to IT staff of all technical abilities.
