Job overview

Sheffield Teaching Hospital's Emergency Department is a fast paced and dynamic place to work, every day brings new challenges and opportunities to make a real difference.
We treat a wide range of emergencies from minor injuries to critically unwell medical patients. As South Yorkshire's regional Major Trauma Centre, we also receive trauma patients from a wide geographical area, utilising the onsite helipad to receive patients from the air ambulance services.
As part of the Acute and Emergency Medicine Directorate, we work closely with the AMU and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit to ensure patients received the appropriate and timely care they need.
New nurses to our department will benefit from a structured development programme to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to deliver high quality care in a supportive environment. Our education plan will include:
•    Simulation training in our new simulation facilities,
•    Trauma courses,
•    Majax and chemical incident courses
•    Our new resus excellence course
There are further opportunities for advanced life support and leadership training when you are an experienced ED nurse.

Main duties of the job

To deliver a high standard of clinical nursing care to a diverse range of patients within the clinical environment as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

To act as supervisor to junior members of staff and students.

To provide excellent patient centred care working in collaboration with families and carers.

Working for our organisation

You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff. This includes commitments to professional development but also many policies to support employees in balancing their personal and professional lives.

For those who are currently employed by the Trust as a Registered Nurse, you should instead apply through the Staff Nurse Transfer process via your line manager.

If you are a Newly Qualified applicant and are due to qualify before 31st December 2024, our newly qualified advert for this cohort has now closed and therefore we are not able to accept newly qualified applications via this advert.
