Job overview
The Radiology Department are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the secretarial Team at the Northern General Hospital.
This is an exciting opportunity to support the administration of the service, which has busy outpatient service across all sites of the Trust.
This role will support the department, ensuring patient pathways are recorded accurately and patients receive a first class service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will need to have excellent work typing skills. Previous relevant secretarial experience is desirable.
The post holders will need to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work with colleagues from a variety of professions and backgrounds. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
A key part of the role will be ensuring the delivery of an efficient and high quality service to patients and therefore the post holder will require extensive experience of working in a healthcare, customer care or retail/hospitality setting. Familiarity with Trust systems such as CRIS, Lorenzo, SystemOne, ICE, and Digital Dictation is also desirable but not essential for the role.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ level 3 Business/Admin or equivalent qualification or experience
- 5 GCSE (or equivalent) to include English and Maths at grade C/4 or above or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Medical terminology course
- ECDL or evidence of short courses in All Core Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant experience of secretarial/ clerical/administration duties
- Relevant experience working in a multidisciplinary environment
- Experience of producing documents to a high standard of presentation with good accuracy Experience of meeting objectives and deadlines in a fast paced environment Excellent standard of I.T. literacy and keyboard skills including the use of Microsoft Office software packages

Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a clerical role within a clinical directorate in the NHS
- Demonstrable track record working with healthcare targets, especially the 6 week diagnostic target
