Our high performing catering department is on a journey to reshape and enhance how we deliver modern, nutritious food that improves patient care and staff wellbeing. We’re looking for an experienced, inspirational Specialist Dietitian to help us achieve this!
We’re an in-house cook chill service made up of innovative catering professionals who work together to overcome complex challenges and deliver the best for our patients and staff. Your role will provide the professional link between Dietetics and Catering to provide advice, training and interpret organisational and national policies to develop nutritionally compliant menus which cater for all clinical complexities within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
Based at Northern General Hospital with flexibility for some home working, you will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver a range of nutrition and hydration services including developing menus and recipes, covering therapeutic and specialist diets, manage and monitor stock for snack lists, create patient meal plans, lead on dietetic specific projects and progress national policy and guidance.
You’ll need to demonstrate leadership skills and strategic thinking, strong problem- solving skills and the ability to manage information and data effectively to influence decision making. Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and budgetary control is key as is the ability to develop Trust wide education programmes and supervise training.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc Nutrition & Dietetics or relevant degree with Post Grad Diploma in Dietetics
- Current HCPC registration with ongoing relevant CPD
- Leadership skills training
Desirable criteria
- Relevant Master’s Level Qualification
- Level 3 Food Safety Certificate or have the ability to achieve once in post.
- BDA Member and Food Services Specialist Group Member
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive post registration dietetic experience at senior grade working within an acute speciality
- Evidence of independent working, time management and organisational skills, and ability to prioritise a busy workload
- High level of knowledge of a range of clinical conditions and current best practice for dietetic management, catering and nutrition in a health care environment
- Competent in behavioural change skills
- Experience of working as Dietitian in large acute Trust or similar organisation
- Experience of working in health service catering and nutrition management
- Use of Nutritional analysis packages and appreciation of the required level of data accuracy in nutritional analysis
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Willing to undergo further training at post registration level
- Completion of the online FSA Allergen Awareness Training Completion (FIC Regulation)
