Job overview

We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking staff to join our team at the Central Main Kitchen Facility where all the meals for the hospital are produced. 

The successful candidate will be required to provide a general catering, portering and driver service to the Catering Department. 

 

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the distribution of food and other commodities to wards and departments within the Trust in a safe and hygienic manner, either manually or by using Trust vehicle.  This will include driving off site.

Responsible for the delivery and collection of food trolleys, baskets, bucket waste to and from wards and dining rooms across the Trust.

Responsible for the completion of all relevant paperwork regarding journeys made in Trust vehicles.

Take personal responsibility for ensuring all food hygiene regulations, including cleaning duties, are adhered to and documentation completed in accordance with Departmental procedures.

The Department is also responsible for the food service to staff and visitors through its outlets in dining rooms, vending machines and delicatessen bars.

The Catering Department provides training in food hygiene to other health professionals within the Trust.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full clean driving licence
  • GCSE English & Maths Grade 4-9 (a-C) or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • CIEH Level 2 Hygiene Certificate or equivalent.
  • CIEH Level 2 Health & Safety Certificate or equivalent
  • NVQ or apprenticeship in a Catering subject

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Stores and/or distribution experience
Desirable criteria
  • Catering experience

Training

Essential criteria
  • Moving & Manual handling
  • Health & Safety
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of attending a nationally recognised food hygiene course
  • Awareness of or training on Equality & Diversity
  • NVQ Level 2 – Support Services in Health Care Studies

  • Movement between sites will be required.
