The Sheffield Diabetic Eye Screening Service has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and reliable individual to join their growing service. This position is pivotal in encouraging attendance, tackling inequalities and improving education of the general populous to the importance of diabetic eye screening.
The successful candidate will be a visible representative of the service, using excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills to promote uptake and awareness as well as provide screening appointments to the most underserved service users.
Shortlisted candidates will be expected to undertake a short presentation as part of the interview process.

- To lead the screening programme in new and established engagement strategies and projects to ensure service equity in a wide diversity of patient cohorts, especially hard to reach groups.
- To engage with Diabetic patients associated with inequalities and poor uptake in screening, with a view to raising awareness in these groups and promoting uptake in order to reduce sight threatening eye disease.
- To analyse healthcare data and devise strategies and actions to improve screening outcomes and reduce risks of sight threatening eye disease as a result.
- To liaise with and provide education around diabetic eye screening to Sheffield Teaching Hospital and primary care colleagues as well as other stakeholder groups.
- To carry out screening appointment in specifically targeted clinics

The Sheffield Diabetic Eye Screening Service serves a population of more than 37000 people with diabetes. Diabetic eye screening is a key part of diabetes care. People with Diabetes are at risk of damage from Diabetic Retinopathy, a condition that can lead to sight loss if it is not treated.
The Service provides photographic eye screening and examination of the images to detect sight threatening retinopathy. The Service also works directly with the Ophthalmology Department at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals to ensure that patients requiring further tests and/or treatment receive seamless and timely care.

Qualifications

- Degree level qualification, or, candidates must be able to demonstrate knowledge, training and experience that would equate to degree level
- Level 3 Diploma for Health Screeners (Diabetic Eye) (If not, must work towards obtaining this qualification)

- Diploma in Retinal Screening
- Management Qualification
- Experience in Diabetic Eye Screening, Public Health or Communications
Experience

- Computer literate including knowledge of Microsoft Office and Social Media applications
- Data analysis experience
- Ability to interpret large amounts of complex data
- High standard of written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Proven report writing ability
- Proven organisation skills

- Experience of working with patients or customers
- Understanding the need for confidentiality
