Job overview

We are currently looking to appoint to a vacancy in the ENT team. The appointment is to commence in February 2025 for a period of 6 months. The post does not award a National Training Number.  As this post is not recognised as a ‘training post’, full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post is equivalent to FY2/ST1 level.

Main duties of the job

This post is for 6 months duration and is covering for the GPVTS training post. The postholder will gain excellent clinical skills and experience in managing the full range of ENT conditions, particularly emergency cases. The postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the acute on call ENT admissions and inpatients, as well as managing the elective patients who may need a hospital stay. This will be as part of a full ward team including foundation doctors, registrars and consultants. In addition, the postholder is strongly encouraged to attend consultant delivered ENT clinics in Otology, Rhinology and Head and Neck surgery including subspecialty interest clinics. There is ample opportunity for developing one's CV in whichever direction that suits the postholder and they will be supported in achieving their career aims as far as is possible within the department. There are opportunities for teaching, research and audit. This is an ideal post for CT/ST level doctors considering a career in ENT and wishing to gain more hands on experience, or for doctors wishing to pursue General Practice who want to learn more in depth about ENT.
