Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Early Years Teacher to join our fantastic Sunshine Day Nursery  team at our site at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital,  offering year-round childcare to NHS and hospital staff.  Our site cares for up to 144 children and features dedicated baby, toddler, and pre-school units and extended opening hours (6.30am to 7pm).

Main duties of the job

To contribute to the development of a high-quality early year’s provision, working and supporting colleagues with delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage to improve all outcomes for children.

To ensure the quality of provision planning and outcomes for the children are of a high standard by using role modelling and staff support.

To develop and lead the practice in areas identified by the Senior Management team.

To supervise/mentor Senior Nursery Practitioners, Nursery Practitioners, Childcare Assistants, Flexible Workers, and Students, to ensure the room/unit operates effectively in line with the EYFS standards.

To provide high quality childcare and education for children attending the Day Nursery/Holiday Club based on a philosophy of family type care, ensuring that each child is treated as an individual.

To promote a safe and caring environment to enable each child to grow and develop within their own potential.

Ensure policies and procedures are always adhered to.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths
  • First Aid Certificate
  • BA Hons /Early Years Professional Status / Early Years Teacher Status / Qualified Teacher Status with Early Years experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Safeguarding Certificate

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Must have excellent knowledge of EYFS and OFSTED regulations and be able to demonstrate up to date knowledge of developments within Early Years.
  • Must be able to be a good role model, deliver training and motivate a team.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience working in Early Years & Education.
  • Experience of implementing the EYFS and delivering the Early Years curriculum.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in partnership with parents and other professional agencies

Personal Qualities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate a team.
