An exciting opportunity has arisen to develop your career within our Neuro Critical care unit at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. The department has capacity for 21 Critical care beds providing top quality, modern facilities for the management of Neuro surgical and Neuro medical patients via elective and emergency pathways, enabling our multidisciplinary teams to work together to provide a high standard of care for patients .

Education and Qualifications

  • RGN Level one
  • NMC registered
  • To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification.
  • First degree or evidence of working towards one (demonstrating graduate attributes)
  • Continuous professional development

Experience

  • Completion of recognised accredited ICU course modules
  • Extensive experience at Band 6 in a critical care setting
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop a professional team
  • Demonstration of involvement in unit developments, undertaking specific responsibilities within NCCU

  • Previous experience deputising for Senior Sister / Charge Nurse
  • Extensive experience at band 6 in Neuro Critical care

Skills and Knowledge

  • Evidence of relevant post basic training and continuous professional development
  • Ability to communicate effectively including active listening, writing, and verbally, with individuals on a one-to-one basis, with groups, and the Multidisciplinary Team
  • Good understanding of the national strategic context of the NHS

  • Highly developed leadership skills with excellent interpersonal skills – ability to form positive relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to manage own and others complex workloads under pressure and prioritise to meet deadlines
  • Persuasion and influencing skills – ability to present ideas and proposals effectively.
  • Ability to work flexibly to cover the needs of the service Inc. on-call, evenings and weekends.
