Job overview

We are looking for an individual to join our team of Multi-Skilled Housekeepers, working at SPARC Norfolk Park Road.

The post is to work with a team of multi-skilled housekeepers, you will be working 5 days out of 7, so will be working weekends on a rota. The shifts are between the hours of 7am - 3pm when working on the wards and 10am - 6pm when working within the kitchen.

Applicants must be self-motivated, a good communicator and have a flexible approach to working practices as they will be required to work various shifts catering and cleaning, such as cleaning patient bedrooms, offices, catering, preparing meals, serving meals ETC.

The role includes preparing patient meals, serving of patient meals, cleaning of patient rooms, communal areas, offices, discharge cleans, deep cleans use of HPV machine etc.

Relevant cleaning and catering experience and a basic food hygiene certificate is desirable, but not essential, as full training will be given.

This post is based at SPARC Norfolk Park Road S2 3QE.

An informal visit and a walk around and chat about the role is very much encouraged.

Main duties of the job

  • General cleaning of all corridors, clinical and non-clinical areas, sanitary areas, and internal windows in the unit, according to work schedules.
  • To maintain the working environment in a clean, tidy and safe condition always.
  • To abide by all COSHH regulations, colour coding.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality concerning patients and their visitors.
  • Work within the Catering Service Framework and in accordance with statutory Food Hygiene Policies.
  • To prepare food items for patients and via regeneration process, which will include presentation, portion control and service delivery ensuring food quality standards are met.
  • Regeneration of patients' food following menus and instruction for special nutritional needs and dietary consistencies e.g., diabetic diet, gluten free diet, soft diet.
  • Ensure the regeneration process is followed, ensuring that food items are served at the correct temperature, temperatures are recorded, and food is served within the specified timeframe and quality checks are maintained.
  • Always ensure security of the building.
  • To carry out duties having due regard for, Health and Safety, and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
  • To attend all mandatory training and where identified retraining sessions regarding, Health and Safety.
  • To attend essential training and manual handling training in line with Trust policy.

SPARC Beech Hill Intermediate Care Rehabilitation is a 31 bedded therapy led unit, for stroke  patients who require further rehabilitation and further assessment to enable them to achieve a maximum potential of independence, to return home or to a place of their choice.

  • GCSE English and Maths (grade C/4 or above) or equivalent experience
