An excellent opportunity has become available at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation trust to join our Team as a Band 8a Matron in our Emergency Department in our Acute, Emergency and Pharmacy Care Group (AEMP)

We seek a highly skilled leader with a background in Emergency Care and Clinical Leadership. The candidate should be a positive and visible role model who can influence best practices in the Emergency Department.

The ability to lead a team through challenging situations will be an asset while ensuring safe, high-quality, cost-effective care, supporting compliance with emergency care standards, and maintaining patient flow at the divisional and Trust levels.

Interviews will be a 2 stage interview process with a stakeholder panel to be held on Thursday 20th February followed by a formal interview on Monday 24th February.

Main duties of the job

 

The post holder will support the Nurse Director and the wider care group in the day to day delivery of clinical business in the Emergency Department with a primary focus of the delivery of high standards of patient care and services with the care group.

The successful candidate should also demonstrate experience of leading and developing the nursing workforce, measuring and improving standards of care and the patient experience, in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, controls and resources.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse
  • Recognised management / leadership qualification
  • 1st degree or equivalent
  • To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
Desirable criteria
  • Masters Degree or working towards

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of managing staff and HR issues
  • Extensive experience as a senior nurse, including experience managing wards/departments.
  • Experience Emergency or Acute Medicine nursing
Desirable criteria
  • Experience at middle management level
  • Experience of managing multi-disciplinary workforce

Special Skills/Aptitudes

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work as a clinical nurse
  • Budget monitoring
  • Management of service developments
Desirable criteria
  • Multidisciplinary rostering
  • IT skills including Datix
