An opportunity has arisen for an Administrator to join our team.

The post holder, together with the Rota Manager, will coordinate and support the Consultant Service Organisers and Consultant Trainee Leads for the delivery of an integrated weekly consultant and junior doctor anaesthetic rota across both the NGH and RHH sites. This will include the publication of a weekly anaesthetic medical staff rota ensuring the correct alignment of skill mix to the appropriate clinical area.

Other duties will be to be the point of contact for organisational queries/issues for Consultant Anaesthetists, Junior Anaesthetic staff and all other personnel who utilise the anaesthetic service. To assist the directorate with workforce planning to include changes to working patterns always ensuring compliance with the local and national policy and directives. Be part of a flexible team and to ensure a smooth and efficient anaesthetic service is always provided.

 

Main duties of the job

 

Provide an integrated weekly medical rota across the 24/7 period at both the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Northern General Hospital. This includes consultants, trainee doctors and PAA’s and any other member of the Anaesthetic workforce that provides medical cover. 

Work closely with all colleagues particularly other members of staff undertaking a service role with OSCCA to always ensure a comprehensive and cohesive response to service planning. 

Ensure that the service is delivered within the identified staffing resource in any given week.  At all times ensure that the correct skill mix is rostered to the correct location. 

Ensure rotas are produced in advance on a rolling 6-week basis to ensure alignment with Trust wide service planning. 

Together with the Duty Floor Anaesthetist deal with daily unscheduled absences such as sickness, carers leave etc to ensure gaps are covered accordingly and the rota is updated in a timely manner.

Essential criteria
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above in 5 subjects including Maths and English
  • ECDL or equivalent IT qualification or demonstrable experience
  • NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or relevant subject or equivalent demonstrable experience
Desirable criteria
  • A levels.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous NHS/public sector experience (Extensive experience covering an AFC 3 role or above)
  • Previous clerical experience in an office/customer focused environment
