Job overview

The appointment is to commence 04/09/2024 for a fixed term period until 02/09/2025, with the possibility of extension.  The level of post ranges between DCT1 – DCT3, candidate’s experience and qualifications will be assessed to suitably place them. The post does not award a National Training Number.  As this post is not recognised as a ‘training post’, full registration with the GDC or GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required.

Main duties of the job

  • Full time position with ward-based, resident on-call, outpatient clinic and operating commitments
  • Take part in the DCT rota
  • Co-ordinate care for inpatients and outpatients with the full remit of OMFS conditions, including head and neck cancer
  • Support the Foundation Doctor

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full Registration with the General Dental or Medical Council
  • Basic Medical Degree or Basic Dental Degree
Desirable criteria
  • Doing medicine or dentistry as a second degree
  • MFDS, MJDF, FDS, iMRCS or equivalent
  • Post graduate qualification e.g. MD PhD

Audit/Research

Essential criteria
  • Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate
Desirable criteria
  • Publications in Peer reviewed journals.

Teaching

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of teaching medical students, dental students and junior doctors.
  • To have the ability and willingness to teach at all levels and to all groups of staff

Personal Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Good Written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values (see appendix)

Clinical Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical Experience OMFS in an Appropriate Health Care Setting
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in an OMFS setting
  • NHS clinical experience

CPD

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months
Desirable criteria
  • Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio
