Job overview

We are looking for someone who is proactive and motivated, putting the patients first to deliver an efficient and effective service to our patients. You will be working in a fast paced environment, working with clinical and administrative staff to ensure that operating lists are fully utilised, adapting to any last minute changes in what is ultimately a rewarding environment. You will be liaising with a wide variety of staff within our directorate and with other specialties across the organisation, using your communication skills to ensure that patients are progressing through their pathways.

 

Main duties of the job

To work in collaboration with the Waiting List Co-ordinator/Administrator to manage the day case  function and flow of patients across all dental specialities. To actively assist the department in the efficient and effective management of the outpatient/inpatient lists inline with both national and local standards ensuring the workload is managed in a timely and accurate manner. The post holder will provide cross cover across the Waiting List team within Charles Clifford Dental Services.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 4 GCSE’s or equivalent to include Maths and English grades A-C (4-9) or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL
  • NVQ level III in Business Admin

Skills and Knowledge

  • Accurate keyboard skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Experience of working in a pressurised environment
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Knowledge of both national and local waiting time targets
  • IT Literacy with Microsoft office packages including Excel
  • Clear understanding of patient confidentiality

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of waiting list coordination
  • Experience of managing patient waiting time targets including 18 week RTT and cancer wait times
  • Experience of populating and coordinating a theatre list
  • Experience of working with Doctors and other clinical staff
  • An ability to work effectively with colleagues from a range of disciplines.
  • Determination and resilience of meeting objectives and deadlines

  • Clear understanding of NHS clinical and operational systems
