Job overview
We require enthusiastic individuals who can work within the Portering Services team at the Central Campus RHH and offer flexibility to cover all Portering related tasks including Charge-hand and driving duties.
The postholder will transfer of patients from all wards and departments, in beds, wheelchairs or stretcher or via the internal Ambulance making sure patient is secure to travel. Move patients with assistance and instruction from professional staff. This Includes the occasional movement of patients with valuables under the supervision of the nursing staff.
The job role requires a flexible approach to work.
Working Pattern: 5/7 Shifts including nights / afternoons and morning shifts. Monday – Sunday - subject to the needs of the department.
Salary: £22,383 pa/ pro rata for part time staff (plus enhancements/unsocial hours if applicable).
Main duties of the job
Transfer deceased patients to Mortuary, ensuring all equipment is clean after use.
Act under instruction from medical/nursing staff in the event of a cardiac arrest or other emergencies i.e. Fire Alert.
Attend Heli pad when requested and provide support to Security Northern General Hospital ONLY.
Provide Emergency response for stroke to scan patients CENTRAL ONLY.
Collection of wheelchairs around the site to dedicated wheelchair hubs.
Deliver stores/supplies/Sharpsmart as appropriate to all wards and departments.
Transfer of urgent medical equipment as required.
When on driving duties you must undertake a daily vehicle check.
The internal transportation of Medical Records, X-Ray Folders and any other files or documents i.e. Lab Reports.
The escorting of medical staff for the collection of drugs/blood.
