South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw (SYB), under the umbrella of the Integrated Care System (ICS), is looking to recruit enthusiastic newly qualified registered nurses who are due to qualify between July 2025 and December 2025, to provide high quality, nursing care at one of five NHS trusts within the SY&B region:

• Barnsley NHS Foundation Trust
• Doncaster & Bassetlaw NHS Foundation Trust
• The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust
• Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust - Intermediate Care Wards and Community Health Care services only
• Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Please note that each organisation above will place a separate advert and you should therefore apply on each of the adverts for the organisations that you are interested in. We encourage you to take your time to complete your application as applications will be scored based on the shortlisting criteria; these scores will be used as the basis to determine shortlisted candidates and for allocation to areas of high demand as there is usually no requirement to attend an interview. Once you have completed your nurse training, your qualification must then lead directly to obtaining NMC registration as confirmed by the training provider.  

Please note this advert is specifically for newly qualified Staff Nurse applicants and applies only to those individuals that have not previously worked as a Staff Nurse or equivalent grade. Candidates that have worked as a Staff Nurse or equivalent grade previously, would not be eligible to apply and would need to apply instead on any advertised experienced Staff Nurse vacancies.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team, providing continuity of care according to the local models of care. You will complete the employing Trust’s Preceptorship package

During the preceptorship period you will have the opportunity to provide care across your chosen pathway where you will be encouraged to identify your strengths and highlight the areas requiring further development for the benefit of the patients in your care. This in turn will enable you to become a confident and competent nurse, practicing in accordance with the NMC Code (2018) and give you the opportunity to prepare for your first NMC Revalidation in 3 years’ time.

Within each Trust the Preceptorship Lead will provide you with ongoing support with any additional training needs throughout the programme.
