Job Title: System Flow Advisor

Working Pattern: 4 x 9.5hour shifts - 7/7 between 07:00am-22:00pm (37.5 hours a week).

As part of the RCMT the post-holder will be required to work flexibly within and across the work streams.
Responsibilities

  • Support the development of a specific communication pathway with partnership organisations who will be involved in the project, including ICBs, Acute Trusts, Ambulance Service, Local authority, CSUs and NHS England, and develop a new communication network for the project contributors
  •    Anticipate trends in activity and initiate process for action following the local escalation planning process
  •  To take intricate operational decisions to assist, all partners in the management of demand and capacity, by accessing and utilising various sources of information. At all times the post holder must ensure that the appropriate procedures are followed linking to governance processes.
  • To maintain, develop and implement open communication channels for all health partners providing advice and support daily to ensure equable flow of emergency activity
  •   Prepare activity reports with supporting narrative following periods of high activity, this requires knowledge of Microsoft excel & word.
  • Assist and advise other health care partners in the planning of available capacity and expected demand, without adversely affecting patient care, using established data items.
  • Provide ongoing assessment of emergency admission pressures across West Midlands health economy, on a daily basis, to facilitate effective decision-making

As a System Flow Advisor, you will:


The post holder will support the delivery of the Urgent Care Intelligence Centre for Birmingham & Solihull, in delivering and promoting the daily 
operational management of Urgent Care across the whole health economy. The post holder will establish, maintain and develop key Relationships with 
all heads of Capacity at partner organisations. The role will be part of a central intelligence centre to receive and manage calls with various types of intelligence & information, which will be proactively managed by the Intelligence Centre System Flow Advisor. The post holder will be responsible for 
monitoring all emergency activity in the urgent care system and anticipate pressure points using forecasting data and knowledge of local arrangements 
and response, and contact relevant personnel following agreed escalation processes. The post holder will be expected to work autonomously and work 
well within a team environment.
The primary responsibility of the Regional Capacity Team is to provide expert service improvement support and advice across the Urgent & 
Unscheduled Care System. Liaising with NHS England (NHSE) Director of Operations, ICB Urgent Care Leads, ICB clinical staff, ambulance services 
and other health & non-NHS organisations as necessary to improve services for patients.
