Our Integrated Mental Health and Substance Misuse Team at HMP Oakwood are looking for a dynamic and experienced RNLD. The team is innovative and forward thinking and committed to a Recovery focused approach that meets people’s needs.

This is an exciting and energetic role for someone who is passionate about providing excellent quality mental health and learning disability care within a busy and rewarding environment. The role will be based at HMP Oakwood but will also offer consultation and advice to colleagues within prisons across the service.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

Working effectively within the team you will be responsible for managing a caseload.  This will include assessments, care planning and the provision of specialist learning disability and mental health interventions to people in prison.  

Working as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary, multi-agency team, you will provide support to the mental health team based within the prison and liaise with, and provide advice and support to, wider stakeholders and agencies.

You will lead on the development and implementation of a new learning disability pathway.  

Inclusion (part of Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust) has prison substance misuse and mental health teams across the country and you will benefit from training and development opportunities as well as the support of an NHS employer experienced in providing prison healthcare for many years.

Inclusion, created in 2002 is part of the Specialist Services Care Group of Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT). Swydd ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

Lead on the development and implementation of a learning disabilities pathway within the prison and be the lead expert for learning disabilities across the service.

Have a key role in supporting the training of key stakeholders within the prison.
 
Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced based interventions. 

Manage a caseload, practicing within the framework of the multi-disciplinary team and Care Programme Approach. 

Provide a care coordinator role and communicate effectively with other professionals, internal and external to the Inclusion Team and prison, to ensure throughcare support where appropriate.
  
Work with people from initial assessment through to discharge which can include transferring care to other providers such as hospitals or CMHTs whilst working with a variety of agencies in the Offender Health Pathway.

Qualifications

  • Registered Learning Disabilities Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register.
  • Evidence of recent CPD and compliance with NMC revalidation.
  • Teaching Certificate including annual update (ENB 603) or related mentoring/coaching qualification.

Experience

  • Considerable experience of working in the learning disabilities field with a comprehensive knowledge in mental health.
  • Experience of providing specialist interventions for those with learning disabilities and mental health problems, counselling techniques, CBT, motivational interviewing
  • Providing supervision and line management of staff where appropriate.
