Job overview

Internal vacancy:

To provide specialist clinical knowledge and support Inclusion Thurrock NHS Talking Therapies services, to facilitate the provision of high quality and effective services to patients.

To work with other Senior Practitioners to provide managerial and clinical support to the team, and one another.

The post-holder will work with colleagues in NHS Talking Therapies and the Psychological Therapies Service to ensure the safe and clinically appropriate provision of therapeutic intervention for adults with mental health problems in Thurrock.

This is to incorporate complex assessments leading to psychological formulations of distress; interpretation, under professional supervision, of assessment instruments and forming judgements for treatment options and service appropriateness.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by therapists in NHS Talking Therapies to ensure they work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service. 

To carry an appropriate caseload of NHS Talking Therapies patients commensurate with clinical capacity.

To be part of the wider integrated mental health services in Thurrock acting as an expert resource within the service and to partner agencies involved in the care of Thurrock patients.

The post-holder will provide clinical support to ensure adherence to evidence-based models of therapy, provide supervision within relevant therapeutic models, training and ensure adherence to relevant Trust policies and professional ethics and standards.

The post-holder will promote the services and manage positive joint-working with multi-agency partners.

  • Good honours degree in Psychology or an associated subject e.g. nursing OR Post-graduate doctorate in psychology (or equivalent in a related profession)
