Job overview

Are you a Speech and Language Therapist who has clinical knowledge in the assessment and management of the needs of children and young people in your care?

If so we would love you to join our team working as part of the Children’s and Families Care Group working in the Children’s Learning Disability Service.

 

This is a dynamic post that requires you to work closely with multi-disciplinary/agency teams in addressing a range of speech, language and communication needs with children and young people with a Learning Disability.

Main duties of the job

  • Be competent and proficient in delivering the requirements of the speech and language therapy role; working as part of the multi-disciplinary team with children and young people in the Children’s Learning Disability service.
  • Demonstrate at all times the Partnership Trust’s Values and Behaviour Framework.
  • Be a Speech and Language Therapist and have a professional and clinical knowledge in the assessment and management of the needs of children and young people in your care.
  • Be responsible for a defined population of service users.
  • Be skilled in the assessment of the speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) of service users with a Learning Disability and in the development, implementation and evaluation of support/treatment packages.
  • Demonstrate initiative and be creative in finding solutions to problems.
  • Work with the team leader / senior therapist undertaking delegated tasks as required.

Person specification

Qualifications:

Essential criteria
  • Degree in speech and language therapy or equivalent. Registration with HCPC

Training:

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of/willing to undertake post-registration training relevant to the post.
Desirable criteria
  • Attendance at relevant clinical excellence networks.
  • Post graduate courses in a relevant, profession-specific topic.

Work Experience:

Essential criteria
  • Relevant experience/placements for the role including assessment and management of SLCN Ability to manage time and caseload effectively. Supporting service users, families and carers as required.

Knowledge:

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of clinical knowledge relevant to the post. Understanding of Information Governance, Data Protection, To adhere to and apply the HCPC standards of proficiency and conduct, performance. A baseline knowledge of speech and language therapy core skills and the positive impact they have on individuals, families and their carers.
