Are you a Registered Nurse looking to widen your experience working within a prison? An exciting opportunity has become available within the Inclusion Clinical Substance Use & Mental Health team at HMP Stoke Heath.
HMP Stoke Heath is a Category C prison for men and young offenders located in the village of Stoke Heath in Shropshire.
The team is multi disciplinary, comprising RMNs, Psychiatry, Psychology, Learning Disability nurse, NMP and Healthcare support workers who work together to deliver Recovery focussed care.
We are looking for a Registered Nurse to work within the Clinical Substance Use element of the Service and someone who is able to provide and deliver high quality clinical and psychosocial interventions to patients in our care. Working effectively within the team you will provide evidence based interventions. You will manage a caseload of patients and will be required to undertake assessments and reviews.
The role will require you to be a reflective practitioner, eager to work collaboratively with patients, carers and team members to contribute to the delivery of an effective, dynamic, integrated specialist clinical substance use and mental health service.
You will work with individuals from initial assessment through to discharge, whilst working with a variety of agencies in the Offender Health Pathway. You will help to rehabilitate and support service users to live hopeful and fulfilling lives as members of the community.
Inclusion (part of Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust) has prison substance misuse and mental health teams across the country. You will benefit from training and development opportunities as well as the support of an NHS employer experienced in providing prison healthcare for many years.

- Deliver a high quality clinical and psychosocial interventions to patients and their families and carers.
- Act as named nurse to a group of patients under the direction / supervision of the person identified with continuing responsibility.
- To assess, care plan and conduct treatment reviews with people who have diverse and complex needs, reviewing appropriately.
- Participate in therapeutic group work programmes, taking the lead where appropriate.
- Facilitate continuity of care for clients transferring through the criminal justice system, either custodial or community.
- Co-administer medication, complying with relevant Trust procedures and NMC.
- Undertake drug screening and respond accordingly in line with policy.
- Contribute to the formulation of care plans in cooperation with multi-disciplinary teams
- Maintain an effective reporting system by observing and reporting verbally and in writing on patient condition
- Ensure the safe custody of all patients as determined by the clinical team.
- Participate in the development of the service to ensure clinical governance processes are actively implemented at team level.
- The post holder will be required to work within the NMC Code of Practice and professional guidelines.
- Maintain an up-to-date level of professional competence within the specific environment.
- Assist in the implementation of evidence-based nursing practice and participate in research and other projects as required.
