The Intensive Life Skills Pathway is a multi-disciplinary mental health team providing assessment and intervention for adults with mental health difficulties across East and West Staffordshire as part of the Adult Mental Health Service.  Services are provided from several Trust locations across Staffordshire and therefore the successful candidate will be expected to work from multiple sites.  The ability to work from home may be required.

We are looking to appoint an experienced mental health nurse/Non-Medical Independent Prescriber (NMP) to join the Intensive Life Skills (ILS) pathway, who has a genuine interest in physical health and working with individuals who have complex emotional needs. This role will involve delivering on agreed process for annual physical health reviews and review of prescribed medications for people who have difficulties with regulating emotions, impulsivity, and interpersonal relationships.

Part of this role will involve working within ILS to develop and deliver agreed clinical processes which will include working collaboratively with the clinical team to assess, review and monitor people’s health including reviewing prescribed medications as an NMP. The post will also include active participation in service development, quality assurance and tasks/roles undertaken as part of the collective leadership team. There will be a requirement to participate in both delivering and receiving a range of supervisions within the pathway.

The post holder will work closely with their colleagues to deliver on quality and physical health quality improvement and will be responsible for ensuring high quality care for service users within the community. This includes prioritising physical health needs, promoting engagement with screening, assessment and monitoring of physical health and prescribed medications in partnership with primary and secondary care sectors.

The team works in a highly psychologically minded way and is passionate about working with service-users who present with high levels of emotional distress, high risk to self and others, and who often have histories of complex trauma and/or adverse experiences.  Applicants should have an interest in working with this client group, and an awareness/experience of using relevant evidence-based models, such as Structured Clinical Management (SCM).

 

The team is looking for an individual who is enthusiastic, passionate, motivated and one who is willing to make a difference to their community, supporting individuals with their mental health and physical health care needs. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment. You will be able to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Applicants must either be qualified in Non-Medical Prescribing V300 or on track to complete their Non-Medical Prescribing V300.

Experience

  • Significant demonstrable experience of delivering therapeutic interventions to clients within a mental health setting
  • Experience of working therapeutically in community settings

  • Current member of the MPFT ILS team
