We have an exciting opportunity for a senior lived experience trainer to join the learning and development team (part of the Wellbeing and Recovery College (WRC) for lived experience (LE) working across the whole of  MPFT.

This is a 12 month  secondment to someone already working in MPFT.  Please read the secondment policy - permission from your manager MUST be given before applying.

The key objective will be to co-produce and co-deliver recovery focused educational materials with the WRC to be delivered across MPFT to support a variety of LE  staff.

This role will involve working with peer support workers, and other lived experience staff and wider teams. Your role will be to adhere to the peer support framework to help lived experience workers to feel confident and competent within their roles and also provide additional support during their induction period as well as facilitating group supervision sessions.

A big part of this role will involve engaging with peer support workers. It is essential to be familiar with the concept of Peer Support and the recovery focused values and principles which underpin it, along with an understanding of the challenges of it’s application within an NHS setting.

Knowledge and experience of coproducing and delivering training is essential, along with familiarity using Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Your role will also include developing network opportunities for our lived experience staff both online and also in person.

To be considered for this role it is essential to have Lived Experience of mental health services and to have used your Lived Experience in either voluntary or paid employment to support others. We encourage you to reflect and consider all of the above when completing the supporting information section of your application. Please detail your relevant skills and experience, ensuring you demonstrate how you meet the requirements of the person  specification.

The post holder will undertake the following duties and responsibilities at all times:

Wellbeing & Recovery College and learning and development Day-to-Day Operations:

  1. To be trained as a trainer in the college and to co-produce and deliver high quality recovery education courses in various subjects as agreed with the learning and development lead. This will include  cpd and training sessions.
  2. When teaching there may be exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances which could be highly sensitive as well as when supporting other trainers who are teaching in the classroom as a regular occurrence. When sharing professional/lived/carer perspectives you may experience a range of emotional reactions including distress.
  3. Effective communication and liaison with trainers and lived experience workers including supporting lived experience development
  4. Take a lead on safeguarding and crisis management within training sessions.
  5. Building relationships to support the college with empathy and excellent interpersonal skills.
  6. Working autonomously and effectively to manage interpersonal challenges in a variety of settings, whilst appropriately using supervision.
  7. Identifying training partnerships and negotiating with trainers course production and delivery.
  8. Actively supporting networking and contributing to the lived experience workforce social platforms such as Microsoft Teams channel, drop in sessions, newsletters etc.
  9. Co- facilitate group supervisions to the lived experience workforce
  10. Ensure that co-production is visible throughout
  11. To attend and complete relevant training courses including the WRC Train the Trainer course
  12. Be active in the development of quality measures across the WRC
