An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a busy Portering & Security Team within the Directorate of Estates, Facilities & PFI. The post holder will be responsible for a full range of Supervisory duties within the Portering & Security Department at County Hospital.

Portering and Security is a 24hour, 365 day service. The successful candidate will be contracted to work an average of 37.5 hours, per week through a rolling 8 week hybrid rota shift pattern of 12 hour and 8 hour shifts including days , afternoons and nights and weekends. This includes  paid annual leave per year of 27 days plus bank holidays rising to 33 days after 10 years service in the NHS.

Pay

Staff will also benefit from enhanced payments on top of their basic hourly pay as outlined below:

Basic pay: £11.67 per hour rising to £12.45 after 2 years.

Additional Payments

Unsociable hours - for all hours worked between the hours of 20.00pm to 6.00am, an additional 35% will be paid per hour on top of basic payment.

Saturday Working - for all hours worked on a Saturday, an additional 35% will be paid per hour on top of basic payment.

Sunday Working - for all hours worked on a Sunday, an additional 69% will be paid per hour on top of basic payment.

The post holder will provide a range of Supervisory duties that will include: Maintaining the required standard of Portering & Security services following the correct procedures.

Acting as one of the Security Leads during security incidents on the County Hospital Site.

Providing Supervisory Management support to the Portering and Car parking & Security manager for the Portering & Security department.

Being the on-site duty contact for Portering and Security matters.

Supervising Portering and Security Officers during their day-to-day duties.

Education & Qualifications

  • Verbal & Written communication, able to read & write English
  • Good basic standard of education (GCSE or Equivalent)

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 In Customer Service or recognised qualification in Leadership/Management
  • Basic Life Support/ 1st Aid Certificate
  • Certificate in Control & Restraint / Conflict Resolution
  • Manual Handling Trainer experience
  • Fire Safety Training experience
  • Gas Trainer certificate (BOC or equivalent)

Experience

  • Explain in detail how to effectively Supervise an NHS support service.

  • Rota Management & Absence Management
  • Previous work experience within in Healthcare environment
