Job overview
You will be enthusiastic and motivated with excellent organisation and interpersonal skills to work as part of the Ward 201 team, taking direction from the clinical team to ensure the smooth running of the Ward. We are a very busy ward, and the post involves liaising with a number of departments and handling queries from a range of sources. The postholder will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and collating information with a high degree of accuracy.
Main duties of the job
You will need to be competent with Microsoft Office and ideally have experience working with Careflow and iPortal. You must be enthusiastic, hard-working, and flexible. You will be a self-starter, organised, reliable, and an excellent communicator who is able to work with a variety of staff. Previous experience in a hospital would be an advantage, though not essential.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will be expected to work on his or her own initiative in accordance with the management requirements and will be responsible for the standard of their own work. The nature of the work requires someone who is aware of patient confidentiality, trustworthy and with the ability to deal professionally and effectively with all staff, external agencies and the public.

Essential criteria
- Good general education to include GCSE English or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- RSA word processing or equivalent
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Secretarial/clerical experience
Desirable criteria
- 2 years’ experience working in an acute hospital setting

Essential criteria
- Good communication skills Ability to work in a demanding, pressurised environment Ability to work with confidential information
Desirable criteria
- Able to use own initiative. Ability to work as part of a team
