Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Staff Nurse to join our existing dedicated friendly team of staff within the Ophthalmic Department.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to be part of the ophthalmic team in The Royal Stoke Hospital Ophthalmology clinic / cataract suite and Ophthalmology Outpatients at the County Hospital Site in Stafford which are part of the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust.

We are looking for someone who has experience working within the outpatient clinic setting or is willing to take part in further training. Previous experience in Ophthalmology would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.

Main duties of the job

Working in a friendly modern environment you will be responsible for the assessment and planning of care needs for Ophthalmic patients.
Within the Eye Department we can provide internal rotation through the following based upon previous experience:

Main Outpatients which incorporates diagnostic treatments at Royal Stoke and County Hospital sites. The majority of time will be spent working at Royal Stoke site, responsibility will also include covering County Clinics which average out to once or twice a month.

  • Macula clinic – Including potential to learn skills to work within the Nurse led clinics (training will be provided)
  • Minor Operation suite.
  • Dedicated Cataract Day Surgery Unit & Ophthalmic Pre Operative Assessment.
  • Emergency Eye Clinic which is a stand-alone from main A&E unit.
    Paediatric ophthalmology.
