Job overview

To assist the Directorate Management Senior Team, as directed by the Clinical Director, Directorate Manager/Matron in the efficient and effective operational management of resources within the Directorate in order to deliver continually improving high quality patient care within the resources available.

To deputise for the Operational Services Manager where necessary.

To assist and where appropriate lead projects, providing regular update reports on the progress of work.

To work with other Directorates/Divisions to ensure the achievement of the Trust’s and Divisional corporate objectives. 

To oversee and monitor patients Referral to Treatment (RTT) pathways for the Directorate.

To work flexibly in order to deliver the Directorate agenda and to offer support to other colleagues including cover in times of absence.

To provide general administrative support to the Directorates, ensuring in particular that supporting services are delivered effectively in the interests of patient care.

The post holder can be deployed across other areas to support service lines as required and agreed with the Clinical Director or Associate Director.

As part of the administrative support structure, the post-holder is responsible for adhering to the Trust’s Access Policy and Standard Operating Procedures.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Intermediate level qualification or equivalent experience e.g. HNC, Diploma
  • GCSE (or equivalent) pass in English and Maths
Desirable criteria
  • Diploma/Degree in Management or health related subject

Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in working in acute Trust
  • Experience of waiting list management
  • Experience of management of National Targets
  • An understanding of operational management roles
  • Experience of Excel, both in data management and data creation
  • Experience of introducing innovative practice
  • Awareness of NHS plan access Targets
  • Ability to work in a high pressured environment & work to deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, oral & written
