High Intensity Therapist
NHS AfC: Band 7

We are recruiting for full and/or part time High Intensity Therapists for this band 7 post within our Trust.
You must have a post-graduate level qualification in CBT, and be eligible for BABCP accreditation.
We are seeking BABCP Accredited / Accreditable CBT Therapists who will deliver flexible clinical sessions in designated GP practices and other community venues, and spend time in the Service Hubs as required as part of the wider integration of the team.

Assess clients for suitability for psychological interventions within the stepped care model. Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients.
Use highly developed communication skills in working with people to understand their personal and often very sensitive difficulties
To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of clients in line with the service.
Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service. Keep records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols.
Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process
Carry out clinical audits of service performance, including service user surveys and evaluations, and help to collate and disseminate the results for feedback.
Provide specialist advice and consultation to other professionals / individuals / groups / committees across Mental Health Trusts, Primary Care Trusts and other voluntary agencies regarding service matters related to the practice and delivery of specific agreed therapeutic modalities and service provision.

The Stoke-on-Trent NHS Talking Therapy Service is an innovative primary care service which involves partnership arrangements between North Staffordshire Combined Health Care (NSCHCT), Midland Partnership Foundation Trust (MPFT), and the Third Sector.

We are committed to promoting the wellbeing of client’s and staff, and we support the intensive clinical skills training programs focusing on advanced level CBT competencies in a range of areas, including adapting treatment for clients with co-morbid long term physical conditions/medically unexplained symptoms.
As a Centre for research as well as clinical practice, we work in partnership with Staffordshire and Keele Universities. All therapists are actively encouraged to participate in clinical research projects, and to pursue their own research/professional development interests.

Key Duties/Responsibilities
Assess clients for suitability for psychological interventions within the stepped care model.
While in a duty worker role make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the stepped care principles and protocols, and direct/signpost unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary.
Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients.
