Job overview

To assist the Directorate Management Team, as directed by the Directorate Manager in the efficient and effective operational management of resources within the Directorate/ Service Line(s) in order  to deliver continually improving high quality patient care within the resources available.
 
To work with other Directorates/Divisions to ensure the achievement of the Trust’s and Divisional corporate objectives.

The post holder can be deployed across other areas to support service lines as required and agreed with the Clinical Director or Associate Director.

Main duties of the job

This post offers an excellent opportunity either for development in gaining exposure to a wide range of operational issues within the directorate, or for an existing Operational Services Manager wanting a challenge in a new directorate.  

We are looking for someone who has excellent inter-personal and communication skills, with the ability to forge and maintain relationships. The ability to manage a busy workload and to prioritise, quickly find solutions and to focus on critical issues when decision making is essential.

The post holder is responsible for the administrative, clerical and secretarial staff within the Directorate.  You will assist the Directorate Management Team with daily operational issues.

Essential Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level of knowledge
Desirable criteria
  • Diploma/Degree in Management or health related subject

Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

Essential criteria
  • 2 years of working in an acute Trust in a management role
  • Operational Management Skills
  • Awareness of NHS Access Targets
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of experience in introducing innovative practice
  • To have great knowledge of the Child Health Directorate
  • Secretarial and/or clerical experience
  • Experience of management of change issues

Personal Qualities

Essential criteria
  • Able to use own initiative
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a demanding, pressurised environment
  • Ability to manage large volumes of work with very fast turnaround
  • Ability to work with confidential information
