Band 6 IM&T Finance and Project Manager 

The post-holder will facilitate and monitor the progress of capital spend within IM&T as well as monitor the Directorates revenue budget spend and associated purchase requirements for contracts and renewals.  The post-holder will engage with IM&T teams to ensure the correct processes and documentation are completed in a timely manner.

The post-holder will support the delivery of a number of IM&T projects on behalf of the Trust using PRINCE 2 methodology in a demanding IM&T environment, to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget. Lead on the delivery of certain projects as agreed with the Deputy Director of IM&T. 

Responsible for working closely with other project members to identify and manage the technical and operational deliverables, dependencies and potential issues that will have an impact on delivery.

The successful candidate with lead on project action plans and trackers, and assist in the successful handover of any project to BAU as required, as well as liaise with a number of technical and clinical leads across the Trust and the wider health community and have the ability to mediate between them in order to support the safe and timely delivery of the project.

  • Support and manage the purchase requirements of the department as well as spend such as goods receipting, tracking spends and invoice payments
  • Co-ordinate regular updates with budget holders and project leads to ensure timely reporting is available and provide a monthly summary of the overall capital programme spend 
  • Support the delivery of a number of IM&T projects on behalf of the Trust using PRINCE 2 methodology
  • Lead on the delivery of capital projects as agreed with the Head of Service Delivery.
  • Work closely with the various project workstream leads (Training, Testing, Operational/Clinical, Network, Hardware, Software, Business Change, System Configuration, Interfaces, Business Intelligence, Communication, Go Live and Cutover) to ensure Project Plans include all deliverables, scheduled in the time required for the planned Go Live. Alert the Project's responsible owner when risks occur and delays are possible.
  • Lead on the maintenance of each projects’ RAID document, and ensure it is constantly up to date.
  • Attend project Steering Group meetings and ensure agendas are ready on time. Support the project lead at each Project Steering Group as required
  • Report and provide recommendations when tolerance to the project plan is exceeded
  • Regularly translate the requests and problems from project members to technical service providers or suppliers and vice versa
  • Work closely with the Project Support Officers to plan and schedule meetings, user acceptance tests, demos and event

  • Experienced Administrative and Clerical person, who is educated to Degree level, or who has equivalent, relevant work experience
  • A minimum of 12 months experience of the acute care setting within the NHS

  • Project management experience equivalent to post graduate qualification.
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing and IT system change
  • Experience of inputting data into IT systems
  • Knowledge and experience of providing IM&T policy advice
  • Experience of transferring skills and knowledge to groups of people who have varying abilities
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Able to oversee, influence and direct activities of staff to achieve agreed actions
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities with unpredictable workload
  • Ability to extract, interpret and analyse complex information and produce reports
  • Experience of finance processes, including PO management and tracking
