Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly organised, motivated, and enthusiastic B4 Contract Analyst to join the Community Equipment Service (CES) and Wheelchair Service (WCS) contracting team, based at the Disability Resource Centre, Bury St Edmunds. 

The successful candidate will be responsible in supporting the contract with day to day functions on ensuring that the services are working to the contractual obligations and providing system support to the prescribers who order the equipment, along with ensuring that billing and activity arrangements for the service are put in place and recognised.

Main duties of the job

The candidate will be required to produce and develop datasets as required as part of the community equipment and wheelchair contracts. The postholder will have experience and skills to provide a strong technical resource to maintain the existing robust functions of data analysis within the service whilst looking for opportunities for continuous improvement. 

You will demonstrate attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. You will be motivated to work independently, able to prioritise and be proactive in solving problems which will be seen through to completion. The candidate will have excellent IT skills, specifically in MS Access and Excel and will be calm and patient with the skills to deal with complex and difficult issues. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong teamwork ethic, sense of accountability, accompanied by an ability to work under considerable pressure at times.

KEY TASKS:  

Communication

·       To support prescribers with signing out community equipment from the peripheral stores using either scanners or the TCES online system.

·       To provide administrative support to the management of the community equipment and wheelchair service contract as required.

·       Support staff and prescribers with system queries and updates.

·       To assist with diary management of the contracting team members.

·       To deal with any telephone calls in team members absence, taking messages or referring on to other senior level staff and always ensuring telephone calls are dealt with in a polite and efficient manner.

·       Ensure good customer service by providing a professional and effective telephone service, taking accurate messages and providing information and signposting as requested and appropriate.

·       To attend departmental / team meetings where required.

·       Provide cover as directed by the Operational Contract Manager and Admin Manager and other members of the team in their absence and assist with their workloads as necessary and undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required commensurate with the grade of the post.

·       Liaising with external providers of specialist information systems to ensure the techniques required to extract information in the most efficient manner.

Analytical & Judgemental

 

·       To provide high quality accurate data for the Operational Contract Manager for community equipment and wheelchair services to enable accurate reporting and monitoring of contract performance

·       To analyse the wheelchair monthly activity data which will involve ensuring that the charges levied are in line with the service specification requirements, whilst working through discrepancies with the service provider. 

·       Monitor information variances and actively pursue discrepancies to ensure the provision of accurate information.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of education acquired through diploma / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience / qualification
  • Data analysis and associated software/computer systems to diploma level / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience/qualification
  • Certificates in Microsoft Excel and Access
Desirable criteria
  • MS SQL Server basic qualifications

Experience and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience of assimilation and aggregation of large volumes of information involving quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Considerable experience of developing accurate and timely reporting solutions within an organisation
  • Knowledge of performance and information management including proficient knowledge of software tools to support data interrogation and information provision
Desirable criteria
  • NHS experience

Skills and abilities

Essential criteria
  • Good literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision using own initiative.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrate through experience how to analyse complex numerical and written data.
  • Ability to interpret guidance and policy requirements and apply to different circumstances
Desirable criteria
  • Thorough understanding of database enquiry techniques, such as SQL.
