We have a forward-thinking Operating Theatre Team, led jointly by the Service Manager, Matron and Clinical Theatre Manager.

With Two Band 7 Day Surgery Leads co-ordinating and supporting the teams which comprise of Anaesthetics, Recovery, Scrub Specialities. The rest of the Theatre Team comprises of Band 6’s who lead within their speciality and a very strong Band 5 team of registered theatre practitioners supported by theatre support workers.

The department has a strong educational lead and actively encourages training and development opportunities for all staff and is committed to their educational needs to ensure that they can provide the expected high standards of patient care provided within Day Surgery at the West Suffolk Hospital.

Main duties of the job

We are keen to employ registered theatre practitioners to our Operating Team, this is a great opportunity to develop your professional career and make a real difference to the lives of those who use our services.

With a major focus on elective recovery, our Trust has excellent opportunities for experienced and newly qualified band 5 theatre practitioners to develop, enhance, consolidate and excel in their skills.

As a registered theatre practitioner, you will practice autonomously and be responsible and accountable for safe, compassionate person centred, evidence-based care that respects and maintains dignity and human rights.

The post holder will work in partnership with other Health and Social Care professionals, students and trainees, agencies, service users and their carers and families.

The post holder will achieve and maintain competence in identified Mandatory and Statutory training, develop and maintain clinical competencies, skills and knowledge which relate to the area of clinical practice.

Staff will be expected to rotate between practice settings which will include different specialities and areas of practice including Anaesthetics, Recovery and Scrub.

STAFF CAR PARKING

Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 – 18:30. 

For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital.  Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.

This parking restriction does not apply if an individual is required to work on a weekend or if they are required to complete “on call” duties within their role.
