(Located in North Lane, Aldershot close to A331)

The Pharmacy Repackaging Unit based in Aldershot , close to the A331, currently supplies Frimley Park and many other hospitals with pre-packs and emergency kits.

You will join our very busy team supplying hospital pharmacies, accident and emergency units and out-patient clinics with patient ready packs. 

No previous experience is necessary, full training will be given.

Main duties of the job

To undertake a range of production duties under the management of the above, in a manner which ensures a quality service to customers.

To be responsible for receipt and distribution of pharmaceuticals ensuring good stock control within the unit.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

PRODUCTION:

  • To work in the Repackaging Unit under the direction of the Chief
    Technician/Production Manager.
  •  To pre-pack bulk pharmaceuticals into A&E packs, OPD packs and ward
    packs for all customers of the unit,  using appropriate packaging equipment.
  • To observe the requirements of good manufacturing practice (GMP) as
    demonstrated during training in order to uphold ‘Medicines and Healthcare
    Regulatory Agency’ (MHRA) assembly licence.
  • To overlabel pre-packed medicines for A&E, OPD and Clinic use for all
    customers of the unit.
  • To observe COSHH regulations when pre-packing and storing bulk
    pharmaceuticals.
  • To adhere to current procedures and keep up to date with procedure
    changes in line with MHRA inspections and departmental changes.
  • To complete accurate detailed batch records.

  • To safely dispose of waste pharmaceuticals
  • To shrink-wrap finished products ready for distribution. To be responsible for safe use of the shrink-wrapping machine.
  • To keep accurate records for environmental monitoring of all areas so as to maintain suitable storage conditions for drugs.
  • Ensure accurate filing of Production Unit paperwork          Receipt of goods:
  •  To be responsible for the accurate receipt of goods to the department i.e.
    to ensure that incoming stock is of the correct description, quantity and
    quality and accompanied by the requisite documentation.
  • To update and maintain accurate computer and paper records of all
    receipts of goods.
  • To be responsible for safe operation of fork-lifter truck

Distribution:

  • To provide an accurate distribution service to all the unit’s customers.
  •  To issue goods on pharmacy computer system and assemble customer
    orders.
  • To maintain accurate computer and manual stock records for all ‘finished products’
  • To assist in packaging of customer orders for transportation.
  •  To complete relevant documentation for transportation of consignments to customers.

Stock control:

  • To be responsible for stock rotation of bulk materials and finished products
    To be responsible for maintaining stock control
  • To assist in stock taking activities

Education & Training

  • To co-operate with and assist with training of new staff
  • To attend training courses relevant to the post.
  • To be involved in (Continual Professional Development) CPD Programme

Other:

  • To answer telephone and help with customer queries where appropriate
  • To co-operate and assist with the introduction and implementation of new technology and systems of work.
  • To undertake any other duties which may be required from time to time, by the Production Manager
  • To participate at departmental staff meetings

Pharmacy Computer System:

  • Take personal responsibility for the accurate and timely input of
    information onto the computer system, to ensure the maintenance of a
    reliable database.
  •  Assist with the routine verification of stock levels to ensure accuracy and reliability of database information.
