Are you a dynamic and enthusiastic Mental Health Practitioner?  Do you want to join our thriving Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), now known as Children and Young People's Services (CYPS) for a year on a fixed term contract, 26.25 hours per week?  Are you passionate about delivering excellent care to our young people and their families?  If yes, then this is the perfect opportunity for you!

Our CYPS Community Team are highly supportive, friendly and innovative.  As part of our i-THRVE framework, this team is focused on Getting More Help.   You would join a strong multidisciplinary team offering assessments and interventions to children and young people experiencing psychological distress as well as providing  support for the Clinic Duty System.  In addition, the role could provide opportunities within our neurodevelopment team if Autism Spectrum Condition/ADHD was a specialist interest of yours.

 We are seeking those professionally registered with NMC, HCPC or SWE and have significant experience of working with under 18yr olds.

This is a part time role of 26.5 hours which can be worked over 3-4 days.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner who will carry continuing responsibility for a defined caseload of children and young people by undertaking the following duties:

  • To undertake assessments of individuals and their families in the designated care group with complex health presentations, including those children and young people presenting with higher levels of risk. To develop care plans alongside the child or young person.
  • To offer specialist assessment and advice where required.
  • To assess and manage on going risks as identified during the assessment, ensuring that this is done in collaboration with the child, young person and carers. To regularly review risk factors and make changes to the management of them as necessary.
  • To contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust Nursing and Mental Health Strategy.
  • To ensure that clinical practice is evidence based and consistent with relevant NICE guidelines and Trust policies and procedures.
  • To provide supervision of junior staff and trainees where appropriate.
  • To act within the professional body’s code of conduct at all times.

  • Carry own caseload and undertake holistic assessments including risk of the child/adolescent /family needs, either individually or in identified complex cases jointly with another member of the CYPS Community Team.
  • Provide short term treatment to CYP individually or Group based.
  • To liaise with Social Care, Education and other appropriate agencies/professionals /carers to ensure best outcomes for CYP.
  • Act as a lead professional for CYP following initial assessment. Developing appropriate plan of care.
  • Offer support for Students on placement.

Experience

  • 2-year post qualification experience of working in the community with young people with mental health difficulties and their families
  • Experience and ability to undertake Mental Health Assessments, Risk Assessments and use outcome measures to evidence good practice
