Job overview

A trust wide role providing coordination of training programmes, particularly Corporate Induction and Apprenticeships. Whilst acting as a lead specialist on Widening Participation initiatives, for example T-Levels, Supported Internships and Work Experience

Main duties of the job

Lead the development and co-ordinate Corporate Induction and monitor local induction completions

Ensure activities associated with widening participation are managed within contract and that data between teams is monitored accordingly

Act as a specialist on apprenticeships, including the commissioning and coordination of apprenticeship standards

Undertake quality assurance activity for internal and external programmes

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  •    Contribute to the Learning and OD Strategy as part of the Trust Learning and OD Team participating in the annual training cycle to identify training needs.
  •    To support the development of widening participation strategies, enabling the trust to provide a best in class scheme
  • Commission programmes from external providers monitoring contract and analysing data from quality activity to ensure return of investment
  •    Provide support, advice and guidance to managers Trust wide in order to embed vocational development programmes. This will involve providing specialist and expert advice where no precedent exists, which involves high concentration to undertake analysis, interpretation and resolution of complex concepts and problems, requiring evaluation of options/factors in order to achieve organisational objectives
  •    Monitor the quality and outcome of external programmes undertaken through FE provision and Training Providers
  •       Support employees who experience barriers that impede their ability to participate in development opportunities. (i.e. functional skills, ESOL) by creating and/or commissioning learning support opportunities.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience
  • Training qualification (i.e. CIPD, CertEd) or recent experience of the training and development environment and willingness to work towards a training qualification.
  • English GCSE grade C or equivalent
  • Maths GCSE grade C or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using e-learning and blended learning technologies

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent experience of being involved in the planning and/or delivery of training and development interventions.
  • Experience in the delivery of induction, and training programmes for vocational staff groups
  • Experience of providing evidence for external audit bodies (e.g. NHSLA, CQC, awarding bodies)

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to interpret learning and development needs on a group and individual basis and confidence to design, deliver and evaluate appropriate and creative learning interventions.
  • Ability to manage own time and multi-task workload and prioritise effectively, often to tight deadlines.
  • Presentation skills (including ability to use PowerPoint)
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office effectively.

Special Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Is able to work flexibly between the hours of 8.00am and 5.00pm.
  • This role is cross organisational, and the post holder may be required to travel between the Frimley Park, Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospital sites occasionally. Therefore, must have the ability to travel.
