We currently have a vacancies in the Orthopaedic theatres for band 5 theatre scrub practitioners with an interest in Orthopaedic surgery at Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot. The hospital was opened in March 2022 and we have excellent facilities in the new build.
We are a GIRFT accredited Operating Theatre department and have 6 laminar flow theatres . As an elective orthopaedic unit we specialise in hip and knee replacements, spinal, shoulder , foot and ankle surgery. We support cross site green trauma if required.
If you are a registered Nurse, registered ODP, a final year student due to qualify or a return to practice nurse/ODP and are looking to develop and further your career then we would love to hear from you.
You will supported by a team in your learning and guided through the competencies required to become a skilled knowledgeable orthopaedic practitioner.
Newly Qualified Practitioners are provided with a 12 month bespoke preceptorship programme with 14 days protected study days designed to teach and develop our practitioners to the very highest standard.

Main duties of the job
- To support the Orthopaedic scrub practitioner team in the establishing
good working atmosphere and participate in effective/efficient use of staff, supplies and services. - To provide a high level of support to the perioperative team in the delivery of patient care, within the theatre area.
- To participate as a skilled member of the theatre team.
- To assist in effective communication channels between team members, medical staff, wards, and departments.
- To participate in achieving the stated Quality Assurance and Risk
Management objectives set by the organisation. - To ensure all equipment is regularly checked and maintained in a safe
manner. - Participate in training programmes for junior staff and other disciplines seconded to the department

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- After a suitable period of orientation and training, the ability to organise own workload with regards to assessing patient needs, planning, implementation and evaluation of a programme of care which is evidence based utilising all available resources taking into consideration the lifestyle, gender and cultural background and ensure involvement with the patient, family, carers.
