Responsibilities will include ordering and serving lunch and dinner at the bed side, keeping high standards of personal hygiene; high standards of cleaning as each ward host maintains the cleanliness of their own kitchen; recognising special diet requirements and ensuring they are correctly delivered; developing good relations with patients, visitors and clinical teams; working alongside a complete catering team.
We are looking for candidates with good availability during the during the day, Monday - Friday, also available to work some weekends.
All candidates will be expected to sit a written assessment of English and Maths at the interview if they are invited to attend. Those who do not meet the minimum standard will not progress to the interview stage.

- Assist patients to select their chosen breakfast/lunch and evening meals on a daily basis, where necessary taking in to account medical, special dietary requirements, religious and cultural needs in conjunction with medical staff
- Coordinate the service of meals and/or extra meal requirements that may arise
- Ensure that discharged patient menus are removed and newly admitted patients have a meal of their own choice
- Prepare and serve hot/cold drinks throughout the day or as required
- Ensure that patients whose fluid intake is not medically restricted have access to fresh water throughout the day
- Encourage patients to eat and drink
- Prepare and serve hot/cold meals throughout the day
- Provide assistance where needed e.g. cutting up food, opening packages and ensuring food and beverages are placed within the patient’s reach
- Prepare areas where food and drinks are served and/or consumed to ensure a pleasant environment for patients including the patient’s bed space, sanitizing the patient’s hand before eating, bedside table and/or any dining facilities

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- Good level of basic education – able to demonstrate literacy, numeracy and comprehension skills
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of relevant Health and Safety, Employment and other legislative requirements
- Food Safety and Health and Safety Level 2 (gained on the job)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Basic catering experience
- Hygiene COSSH procedures
Desirable criteria
- Experience in healthcare
- Infection prevention and control
Skills

- Able to deal confidently and professionally with members of the public and staff
