An exciting opportunity has arisen within Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust for a 0.6 WTE Specialist Community Dietitian and Team Lead. This is a Band 6 to 7 developmental role.
The post holder will primarily focus on managing malnutrition in the community setting, working closely with Frimley ICB Medicines Optimisation Team and other partners within the Frimley Health and Care ICS. This role will be the lead specialist for the community nutrition support team who will oversee:
- provision and development of the clinical community service currently provided by FHFT, managing housebound patients requiring nutrition support
- relevant medicines optimisation activities/projects around appropriate prescribing of nutrition-related products in primary care including guideline development and review, providing specialist advice and education to care homes and primary care professionals
This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills and knowledge within this specialism and you will also be encouraged and supported to work on audit and quality improvement projects relating to the service. There will be a framework of competencies to be complete as part of this developmental role in order to progress from Band 6 to Band 7.

Main duties of the job
- Lead specialist for community nutrition support team
- To lead on community nutrition support service development
- To lead on relevant medicines optimisation activities/projects around appropriate prescribing of nutrition-related products in primary care
- To provide assessment, treatment and management of housebound patients requiring nutrition support who may have both complex and chronic social and medical presentations affecting their nutritional intake.
- To provide specialist advice, support training and practical resources for the management of malnutrition, including nutritional screening, food fortification and the appropriate use of prescribed nutritional supplements for care homes and primary care professionals e.g. GPs, District Nurses, Community Pharmacists and the Integrated Care Teams

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Recognised degree in nutrition and dietetics or equivalent
- HCPC registration
- Advanced communication course e.g. Advanced counselling skills, Motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
- Leadership/supervisory skills course
- Evidence of further postgraduate study up to MSc level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Basic financial training
- Member of BDA
- Active member of special interest clinic group
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working within the speciality or other relevant experience
- Experience of MDT working
- Line management experience
- Leadership experience
- Experience of student supervision
